Biography
Panamanian saxophonist, composer, and educator Samuel Batista mixes Panamanian folkloric and urban music with jazz.
Graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2018 with a dual degree in Jazz Composition and Performance, Batista taught private lessons at The New England Conservatory for The Preparatory Jazz School and the Continuing Education Program.
His debut album, Panama United, was produced by pianist Alain Mallet and premiered during the 19th edition of the Panama Jazz Festival along with his “Panamanian Sextet”.
In 2018, Batista returned to Panama and toured with Panamanian singer Ruben Blades while working as a professor at the Danilo Perez Foundation.
After graduating from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute masters program, Batista currently lives in Boston while working on his upcoming album Rising to Love.

Batista se graduó de Berklee College of Music en 2018 con una doble licenciatura en Composición e Interpretación de Jazz y enseñó lecciones privadas en el New England Conservatory para The Preparatory Jazz School and the Continuing Education Program.
Su álbum debut, Panama United, fue producido por el pianista Alain Mallet y se estrenó durante la 19° edición del Festival de Jazz de Panamá junto a su “Sexteto Panameño”.
En 2018, Batista regresó a Panamá y realizó una gira con el cantante panameño Rubén Blades mientras trabajaba como profesor en la Fundación Danilo Pérez.
Después de graduarse del programa de maestría del Berklee Global Jazz Institute, Batista actualmente vive en Boston mientras trabaja en su próximo álbum Rising to Love.
